The committee initially began their investigation against Devin Nunes over allegations that he had revealed classified information to the public. This was determined when the California Republican arranged a spontaneous press conference in front of the White House one morning, after he had disappeared the night before to meet with then-unknown members of the President's National Security Council. According to The Washington Post -- one of many media outlets reporting from Capitol Hill -- delaying the repeal of the Affordable Care Act was a confrontation that Republicans made by themselves. Those extremist right-wing elements in the party reportedly feel pressured by their constituents to cut a better deal.
